A devastating fire broke out at Kunkorgu Basic School in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region on Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 10:00hrs.

The swift response of the school’s headmaster, staff, and the local community, assisted by the Ghana National Fire Service, helped bring the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

Although no casualties were reported, the fire damaged the school’s infrastructure, exacerbating the existing challenges faced by the community, including understaffing and inadequate facilities.

The community is now appealing to the government, NGOs, and philanthropists for urgent assistance to repair the damaged infrastructure and provide additional teachers to support the school.
