The Sissala East Youth Parliament convened for its inaugural sitting on Saturday March 1, 2025, marking a significant step toward youth inclusion in governance and decision-making in the municipality. The event, held in Tumu, brought together young leaders, development partners, and stakeholders to formally establish the structure and leadership of the youth-led initiative.
Sissala East Municipal Director for the National Youth Authority(NYA) Mr. Adams Taufik, emphasized that the Youth Parliament is a non-partisan platform designed to empower young people to engage in civic discourse and influence policy at the municipal level. Mr Taufik stated “the youth parliament is the initiative of NYA as a youth structure introduced at the district, regional and national levels for the youth to deliberate on matters of importance to youth development, and hold duty bearers accountable”.
