A weak electricity pole collapsed onto a building in Wa Sombo, opposite the Speaker of Parliament’s residence, during last night’s heavy rain recorded on the 25th of March 2025. The incident, which could have turned tragic, was immediately reported to the Volta River Authority/Northern Electricity Distribution Company (VRA/NEDCo). However, as of this morning, no action has been taken, leaving residents in fear of potential danger.

The affected homeowner described the terrifying moment. “The rain was heavy, and suddenly, we heard a loud crash. When we rushed outside, we saw the electric pole lying on the house, with wires dangling dangerously,” he said.

Neighbors who witnessed the incident said the pole had been weak for some time, yet no effort was made to replace it. “We have complained about these old poles before, but nothing was done. Now, see what has happened,” a frustrated resident stated.

Live electrical wires are still exposed and the risk of further damage looming.
