Wa VRA-NEDCo Manager Attributes Power cuts to High Electricity Demand
Upper West Regional Minister Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing Had a close Door Meeting with top management staff of VRA-NEDCO on Power Outages within the Region on 7th of March 2025.
He also sought for answers to why there were unplanned outages in the Region.
“You are a political leader, what you are likely to hear is that oo the party is being sabotaged and therefore they are doing it intentionally, that is the first thing you will hear but I’m always of the view that it’s better we come and take first hand information..”
Upper West Regional Manager of VRA NEDCo, Engineer Francis Yormesor blamed the development on Excessive heat recorded in the month of March and Ramadan.
He also indicated that the Upper West Region depends only on 5 Megawatts of Power which is below the Demand.
Checks by Upper West Media Team also revealed that close to 3,500 LED Streetlights distributed to households and installed on poles during and after the December 7th General Elections have added a burden of over 520 Kilowatts of weight to the already existing load on VRA/NEDCo power supply systems.
