In a remarkable heartwarming gesture to calm down rising tensions following some remarks by the Upper West Regional Minister that had sparked outrage in the Wa Metropolis, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, has moved to calm tensions with the Regional Chief Imam and all those that might taken offense over the issue.

This comes after the Imam released a statement Tuesday, April 8, 2025, registering his displeasure over a video in circulation that captured the Regional Minister making remarks deemed derogatory in response to his critics who questioned his failure to grace the just ended Eid-ul-Fitr ceremony in Wa.

Accompanied by the State Prosecutor – Lawyer Abdul-Shakuur, Alhaji Kabore and some party stalwarts, he pleaded with the Imam to let them smoke the peace pipe for the continuous development of the area as it was not his intension to be disrespectful in any way.

He revealed that he had already allocated a Hajj ticket in advance for Alhaji Osman Kanihi- the Supreme leader – which he was in the process of coming to inform him before that unfortunate incident unfolded.

While calling for calm over the matter, he pledged to continue to work with chiefs and traditional leaders, clerics, opinion leaders and all stakeholders for the betterment of the region.
