illegal Miners Apprehended at Chiantanga Community in the Wa West District have been remanded in Police custody after they were arranged before the Wa Magistrate Court .
The suspect were arrested for engaging in illegal mining activities on Thursday, April 10, 2025, for engaging in illegal mining activities on the Black Volta River.
The Seven (7) individuals arrested include; Sabugu Razak, Ibrahim Zuberu, Alex Amedzake, John Cobblah, Promise Dufe, Angelina Akpese, and Rebecca Tumawu.
Ten (10) Changfang machines, two (2) unregistered PNE and Apsonic tricycles and motorbike with registration numbers M-24-NR 6010, and M-23-UW 4413, two (2) unregistered Haojue and Apsonic motorbikes and six (6) student mattresses were retrieved from the site.
UPDATE ON ILLEGAL MINING ARRESTS
In a decisive crackdown on illicit mining and other criminal activities, seven (7) suspected individuals apprehended for engaging in illegal mining at Chiantanga Community in the Wa West District were brought to the District Magistrate Court on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Following their arraignment, the suspects were remanded into police custody and slated to reappear in court on Monday, April 24, 2025.
