The Jirapa Municipal Assembly has failed to confirm Hon. To-ang Nangpello Ninfaapigzie Peter, the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

In a confirmation vote held on Tuesday, the nominee polled 34 ‘Yes’ votes and 18 ‘No’ votes, falling short of the constitutionally required two-thirds majority needed for confirmation.

According to Ghana’s Local Government Act, a nominee must secure at least two-thirds of the votes from assembly members present to be confirmed. With a total of 52 votes cast, Hon. Ninfaapigzie Peter needed at least 35 affirmative votes to be approved, missing the mark by just one vote.

Confirmation shall go on at the Sissala East and Sissala West Assembly as Well today, 16th April 2025.
