The Wa Metropolitan Assembly is yet to Elect a Presiding Member, few hours to the Confirmation Process of the Wa Metropolitan Assembly.

Two Assembly Members, Hon. Siita Rauf and Hon. Daubile Alhassan went into a contest for the position in February 2024 but polled 23 votes each out of 46 Valid Votes, another election was held 10 days after but the Assembly was unable to elect a Presiding Member.

Former Assembly Member for Nakore Electoral Area, Hon. Karim Toppie was the Presiding Member before the seat became vacant.

Two names were proposed for an election after the first attempt proved futile and they included Hon. Adams Yahaya Jiga, Assembly Member of Bamahu Electoral Area and Hon
Nuhu Abdul-Wahab, Assembly Member for Zingu Electoral Area.

The Two Teachers were earmarked for a stiff contest but no elections have been held yet.

Per the Time Table released for Confirmation of MMDCES, the Wa Metropolitan Assembly is next after Wa West District Assembly to go through the confirmation process of Approving the President’s Nominated MMDCES for the District and Metropolitan.

Some individuals are optimistic a Presiding Member Shall be elected Today, 17th of April 2025.
