The President’s MMDCE Nominee for Nadowli-Kaleo in the Upper West Region, Madam Mary Haruna has been Rejected by the Assembly Members of Nadowli-Kaleo Today , Monday, 28th of April 2025.

This came inn after 28 Assembly Members voted against her candidature, making her unable to secure two-third(2/3) of the total valid votes of 35.

In all, 16 Appointed Assembly Representatives voted alongside 36 Elected Assembly Members, making a total of 52 Voters.

Madam Mary Haruna polled 24 ‘Yes’ Votes and 28 ‘No’ votes making her unable to go for a second round of considerations per the Constitution’s demands that a DCE Nominee should secure at least half of the total votes to stand a chance of being tried again in another voting process.

Despite misunderstandings and grudges at the Assembly, police have been able to restore calm.

So far, 9 nominees have been confirmed out of 11 in Upper West Region. Wa East District and Nadowli-Kaleo District outstanding.
