The Upper West Regional Police Command has Apprehended two crime suspects for Reportedly Assaulting a disabled young man leading to his death.

In a statement released on the 11th of April 2025 and Signed by DCOP Darko Lomotey, Upper West Regional Police Command, it indicated that family of the deceased, 23 years of age is yet to be identified.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 22, 2025, when the young man was allegedly assaulted by Felix Gasonye aged 58 and Moogu Zaganaa also aged 52 in Gbonka Community, Nadowli Kaleo District.

IDENTIFICATION OF DECEASED YOUNG MAN WITH SUSPECTED MENTAL ILLNESS

1. The Upper West Regional Police Command is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a young man with suspected mental illness who tragically lost his life after allegedly being assaulted.
2. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 22, 2025, when the young man was allegedly assaulted by Felix Gasonye aged 58 and Moogu Zaganaa also aged 52 in Gbonka Community, Nadowli Kaleo District.
3. He sustained various injuries and was subsequently taken to the Wa Regional Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he lost his life on 24/03/2025.

5. In a swift and decisive response, police apprehended the two suspects and arraigned them before the Nadowli District Court on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 and they were remanded into prison custody to reappear before the court on Monday, April 17, 2025.
6. This prompt action underscores the police commitment to ensuring that those responsible for heinous act are held accountable.
7. The Regional Police Command urges parents, guardians, and members of the public who may have information about the young man’s identity to contact the Kaleo Police Station. A photograph of the deceased is attached to aid in identification.
