The GPRTU on 24th, May 2025 directed all public transport operators to reduce fares in line with slowing inflation and appreciation of the Cedi to the Dollar.

Checks by Upper West Media Team on Monday, 26th May 2025 at the Tamale Station in Nayiri revealed that prices that have been Ghc100 for months haven’t been reduced.

Fare from Wa to Tamale with Sprinter Mini Bus is Ghc100 and a driver by Name Sualah from Tamale indicated that the Station hasn’t increased Fares for a long time so there wasn’t the need to reduce fares because under normal circumstances, fares should have been Ghc130.

The Presiding Member of Wa Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Yussif Wahab has assured that Taskforces shall be deployed into the stations to ensure Drivers comply with the New Directive on Fares by GPRTU.

“We will send Taskforces to Town to implement the Directive.” He Said in Waali Language.
