Duu, Wa East District – A tragic incident at an illegal mining site in Du, Wa East District, has left five miners dead, two injured, and ten others reportedly trapped following a collapse on Sunday night, May 26, 2025. The site, located on a concession belonging to Azumah Resources Limited, was being illegally mined by local workers.

Rescue operations are underway, with local authorities and emergency teams working to free the trapped miners. The cause of the collapse is under investigation, but illegal mining activities in the area have raised concerns about safety and regulation.

Azumah Resources Limited, which holds the legal concession, are yet to comment on the matter .
