Kameleon Communications Ghana Limited, operators of Info Radio 91.1 FM, in Wa, has responded to allegations made by the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Samuel Nartey George, that the company is operating without proper authorization.
In a press statement signed by the Managing Director, Gaberial Mwine, and copied to 3news.com, the company asserts that it has fulfilled all legal and regulatory requirements as stipulated by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
According to the company, it has completed all necessary procedures to renew its authorization, settled all financial obligations with the NCA, and was issued a provisional authorization on November 18, 2024.
The company finds it perplexing that the Minister would categorize them as operating without authorization, describing the assertion as inaccurate and detrimental to their reputation.
“The company remains committed to operating within the legal frameworks and maintaining transparency in all its dealings. We are urging the Minister to review facts before making public statements that may mislead stakeholders and the general public,” Mr Mwine said.
Among the 64 Radio Stations that suffered the shutdown across the country, Kameleon Communications (Info Radio) was among the five affected stations in Upper West, according to the NCA.
They include:
- Orakle Multimedia Limited (Tumpaani 88.5 fm), Nadowli
- Tessslide Company Limited (Hope 96.7 FM), Wa,
- Limaniya Radio Station Limited 95.7, Wa
- Chinnias Empire Limited 96.3 fm, (Sissala Radio), Tumu
- Kameleon Communications Ghana Limited (Info 91.1), Wa
The affected radio stations have since been given a 30-day ultimatum to regularise their operations following intervention by President John Mahama.
