The Wa Circuit Court presided over by his Lordship Johnson Avoogo has on Friday, July 18th 2025, Sentenced Issahaku Waris, a 31 year old resident of Wa Zongo, to seven (7) years imprisonment for defiling a 5 year old female child on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

UPPER WEST REGIONAL POLICE COMMAND SECURES CONVICTION IN DEFILEMENT CASE

1. The Upper West Regional Police Command has successfully secured a conviction in a defilement case, underscoring its unwavering commitment to justice and the protection of vulnerable members of society.
2. On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Wa Circuit Court presided over by His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo sentenced Issahaku Waris, a 31 year old resident of Wa Zongo, to seven (7) years imprisonment for defiling a 5 year old female child on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
3. The suspect was arrested two days later on Saturday, April 26, 2025 by officers of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit and swiftly put before the Court.
4. The conviction followed diligent investigation and cooperation from the victim’s family and community.
5. The Regional Command remains committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and encourage the public to report all forms of abuse promptly.
