The Regional Management of the Upper West Centre for National Culture held a media engagement to trumpet the challenges affecting the Centre’s operations. According to Chief Seidu Bomison, Regional Administrator, a key challenge facing the Centre is the lack of a suitable office space.

Infrastructure Challenge of the Upper West CNC
Adjacent to the current Wa Airport building lies a 1,500-seat multipurpose THEATRE, which has been under construction since 2008. Previously, the Centre owned and operated its regional office at the current Wa Airport building until relocation to the first floor of Ministry Block B. Unfortunately, promises to address the office and theatre infrastructure needs have remained stagnant for nine years, significantly impacting the Centre’s ability to fulfill its mandate due to the current location’s inadequacy.

The Upper West Centre for National Culture by this engagement, respectfully appeals to the government to consider the vital role the Centre plays in preserving and promoting the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Upper West Region. Given the numerous local, national, and global benefits derived from the Centre’s work, management urges the government to prioritize relocating the Centre to a suitable office infrastructure. This relocation would enable the Centre to effectively deliver on its mandate and support the region’s cultural development.
Present was the Regional Director, the Human Resource Lead, the Administrator, Head of Programs and the regional PRO/District Director for Nadowli-Kaleo.
