The Mayor of Wa Metropolitan Assembly, Alhaji Nurah Issa Danwana has on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025 Commissioned a Kindergarten School facility within the premises of Upper West Regional Hospital to facilitate Tuition for Wards of The Hospital Staff.

Today, I commissioned a new two-unit kindergarten (KG) block at the Upper West Regional Hospital. The furnished block is designed to provide childcare for the children of the hospital staff, allowing parents to focus on delivering quality healthcare services to patients.

Mr. Francis Luguniah, the hospital administrator, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Wa Metropolitan Assembly for their crucial support in the construction and furnishing of the project. He also extended thanks to the previous director of the Upper West Regional Hospital for initiating and lobbying for the project before his transfer.

Mr. Luguniah took the opportunity to appeal to me to further assistance, specifically requesting the construction of an oncology unit. According to him, the unit would enable the hospital to provide essential cancer diagnosis and treatment services to the residents of the Upper West Region.

I acknowledged the contributions of everyone involved in bringing the project to fruition. I further emphasized the profound importance of education and its positive impact on both individuals and the community, highlighting the particular benefit of having a dedicated school block within the hospital premises for staff children.

I also pleaded with the hospital management to diligently maintain the new facility, ensuring it remains in excellent condition and is used solely for its intended purpose. I hinted that the Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo is actively lobbying and working tirelessly to secure the construction of an MRI , diagnosis, and cancer treatment centre in the Wa Metropolis in addressing the hospital’s request directly.
