The Upper West Regional Police Command in a letter Dated 25th July 2025 and signed by DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey has begun taking Steps to investigate a Murder Case Relating to land related disputes a Yanyuo Yiri Within the Katuo Electoral Area of Wa East District.
On Sunday, 20th July 2025, Two Young men were reported dead in a land related dispute.
According to Home Radio’s Report, Tension at Yanyuo Yiri led to two people losing their lives. Osman Fusein, also known as “Marfa,” aged 47, and Sampa Abubakari, 35, tragically lost their lives on their way to the farm. Reports indicate that this resulted from land disputes.
The Bodies were brought to the Regional CID Headquarters for investigations to Commence.

UPPER WEST POLICE INVESTIGATES FATAL SHOOTING OF TWO AT YANYUO YIRI COMMUNITY
- The Upper West Regional Police Command is investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Yanyuo Yiri community in the Wa East District.
- Two persons, Marifa Osman, aged 47 years and Sampa Abubakari, aged 35 years were allegedly shot and killed by a group of armed men while on their way to inspect their farmland.
- Police visited the scene and retrieved the bodies along with relevant exhibits. The bodies were conveyed to the Wa Regional Hospital for autopsy and were released to the families on Monday, July 21, 2025 for burial according to the Islamic tradition.
- Police personnel have been deployed to the community to maintain calm as investigations continue. Proactive efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
- On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Members of the Regional Security Council and the Wa East District Security Council visited the community to interact with them to give peace a chance.
- The Regional Command urges the public to remain calm and support the investigation by providing any credible information, which will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
