Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has disclosed that less than 1% of work has been done on the Sawla-Wa road project, despite the contract being awarded by the previous government.

He disclosed on TV3 whilst Analyzing the state of roads and road projects Accross the Country.

It can be recalled that during the Mid Year Budget Review Outlined by Dr. Ato Forson in July 2025, The Wa-Sawla Portion of Wa-Wenchi Road was Ommited from the Budget Statement.

This raised eyebrows in the Upper West Region.

The Wa To Sawla Road was Awarded on Contract 29th November 2024 by Akufo-Addo Administration at a Sum of Two Billion, Three Hundred and Six Million, One Hundred Sixty-Six Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty-Four Ghana Cedis, Sixty Pesewas (GH¢2,306,166,134.60) for completion in Thirty-Six (36) Calendar Months.

The Contract was Awarded to MESSRS MARIPOMA Enterprise Limited.

LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE

We have the pleasure to inform you that by letter No. PPA/CEO/11/3572/24 dated 28th November 2024, the Public Procurement Authority in accordance with Section 40 (1) (b) of Act 663 (as amended), has given approval for the award of the above works.

The Contract Agreement is therefore to be signed with you for the execution of the Works in the sum not exceeding Two Billion, Three Hundred and Six Million, One Hundred Sixty-Six Thousand, One Hundred and Thirty-Four Ghana Cedis, Sixty Pesewas (GH¢2,306,166,134.60) for completion in Thirty-Six (36) Calendar Months.

The Engineer of the Project is the Chief Executive, Ghana Highway Authority, P.O Box GP1641, Head Office, Accra. The Regional Highway Director, Upper West Region, or any other person named by the Engineer, will be the Engineer’s Representative. You are to contact the Engineer for further instructions.

Pursuant to clause 8.1 of the Conditions of Contract, you will be required to commence works upon the issuance of Notice to Commence Works from the Engineer, subject to the Signing of the Contract Agreement.

In the meantime, you are requested to obtain and submit the required Performance Security in the form acceptable to the Employer and in the following amount before you Sign the Contract Agreement.
