There have been calls by Several Citizens in Upper West Region urging the Ghana Immigration Service to conduct a probe Into some reported illegalities executed by non citizens in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Some of the Reports include foreigners holding Citizens ID Cards of the State Popularly known as Ghana Cards instead of Non Citizen Ghana Cards, Secondly, Foreigners Engaging in Retail Business with Business Certificates from the Various Assemblies contrary to the Laws of Ghana, Thirdly, Foreigners Overstaying their Visas or Permit of 90 Days in the Country and operating in Prostitution businesses popularly known as Ashawo in the Region.
Fourthly, Foreigners owning documented properties in the name of the State including, Merchant/Business Sim Cards, Buildings, Motorbikes that should ideally be registered with a citizen Ghana Card.

The Upper West Regional Public Relations officer of GIS, Inspt. Ibn Yussif Duranaah has Urged for calm whilst investigations are ongoing to address the issue, he Urged residents to provide more information for the security agencies to be able to clamp down on individuals engaged in illegalities.
