Some Maize farms including the farm of The Mayor of Wa, Alhaji Nurah Danwana have been invaded by Fall Army Worms.
Alhaji Nurah Issa Danwana in a dismayed revelation on Sunday, 24th August 2025 expressed alarm at the rate at which the insects invaded his farm.
“Alhamdulillah
I visited my farms today and was surprised that Fall Armyworms has invaded the farm.”
Fall Army Worms are insects that feed on farm produce including Maize and Maize Plants.

The invasive pest, fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith), was confirmed as being present in Ghana in 2016. By 2017, research studies estimated that maize yield losses in Africa due to fall armyworm would range between 8.3 and 20.6 million tonnes per year if management measures were not put in place.
