The Upper West Regional Police Command headed by DCOP Darko Lomotey has on Monday, 25th August 2025 Outlined Steps being taken to Curtail Disputes in Lambussie District between Dagaaba and Sissala over Plots of Land.

DISTURBANCES AT SENE-DINDEE IN THE LAMBUSSIE DISTRICT-UWR

  1. The attention of the Upper West Regional Police Command was drawn to a misunderstanding that occurred at Sene-Dindee, a Sissala and Dagati farming community in the Lambussie District, on August 21st and 22nd, 2025.
  2. On August 21, 2025, a confrontation between members of the Sissala and Dagati escalated into violence, leaving three persons with varying degrees of injuries. The injured were sent to health facilities in Lambussie and Nandom and are responding to treatment.
  3. On August 23, 2025, the situation degenerated further when a group of armed men from a neighbouring settlement attacked the community, firing indiscriminately and setting ablaze a house, three (3) motorbikes and a tricycle. Regrettably, a 75 year old man lost his life in the process. His body has since been conveyed to St. Theresa’s Hospital, Nandom, for preservation and autopsy.
  4. The Police swiftly intervened, restored peace, and have since maintained security in the area. Personnel are conducting sustained patrols and monitoring to prevent any recurrence of violence. Police retrieved four (4) single barrel guns, a bow and arrows, cutlasses and other offensive implements.
  5. The Regional Command has scheduled community engagements at Sene-Dindee and Kouro communities on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11:00am and 1:00pm respectively.
  6. The Regional Command assures the public of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and urges residents to remain calm, and resort to peaceful and lawful mechanisms in resolving disputes
