Several houses in Wa and other parts of Upper West Region have been left in a state of total darkness after power (electricity) was taken away as at 7:49pm today, 3rd October 2025.

This development has continued since 30th of September 2025.

Several residents have expressed displeasure and dismay over the development calling for The Volta River Authority (VRA) in Upper West Region headed by Engineer Francis Yormesor to be proactive in addressing the issue or release a timetable to that effect Highlighting on Security and Economic Implications.

One cedi Levy on fuel to settle energy sector debt of 80 Billion accrued by ECG commenced on the 16th of July 2025.

Energy Minister John Jinapor says the recently introduced GH¢1.00 fuel levy is expected to generate between GH¢5 billion and GH¢6 billion to support the procurement of liquid fuel, but stressed that the amount will still fall short of what is needed.
