Subject: Condemnation of the Unlawful Removal of Haruna Institute Banners in Wa

The Friends of Haruna Institute, Upper West Chapter, strongly condemns the deliberate and unjust removal of banners belonging to the Institute in Wa, the regional capital. We wish to set the record straight in light of recent misleading social media commentary and media speculation.
The Haruna Institute duly submitted an official request to the Wa Municipal Assembly for permission to mount the said banners. Following the established procedures, we fulfilled all requisite obligations, including payment of the prescribed fees, for which we were issued an official receipt. Subsequently, we were granted formal approval by the Assembly to proceed with the installation of the banners.

Let it be made absolutely clear: the banners in question were not political campaign materials, nor were they intended to promote any individual’s presidential ambition. These banners served one purpose only to publicize the existence and activities of the Haruna Institute in the Upper West Region. Nothing more. Nothing less.

We are appalled by the blatant double standards being exhibited. While overtly political banners such as the one reading “Asiedu, Next President of Ghana” have been allowed to remain untouched for weeks, banners from the Haruna Institute containing no political slogans or endorsements, have been singled out and torn down.

This unlawful and discriminatory act is not only unacceptable but deeply troubling. As a law-abiding organization, we have officially lodged a complaint with the Upper West Regional Police Command and demanded a full-scale investigation. We expect the perpetrators to be identified, exposed, and held fully accountable under the law.

We are urging all members of the Institute, as well as the general public, to remain calm but unshaken. We will pursue every legal and legitimate avenue to ensure that justice is not only served but also seen to be served. We will not relent.

We also call on all institutions and individuals to uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and equal treatment. The Haruna Institute stands firmly for integrity, tolerance, and mutual respect, and we will not tolerate any attempt to undermine these values through acts of intimidation or sabotage.

This matter is far from over.
