The Upper West Regional Police Command headed by ACP Francis Yiribaare has on Wednesday, 2#nd October 2025, Issued a statement after a robbery incident at Lassia Tuolu Community in the Wa West District of Upper West Region.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT AT LASSIA TOULU IN WA WEST DISTRICT

The Upper West Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, 19th October, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., at Lassia Toulu, a community within the Wa West District.

Initial information gathered indicates that some unidentified gunmen on two motorbikes, attacked a local drinking spot resulting in the death of one person and injuries to others, after robbing a barbering shop, a provision store, and a local restaurant. The suspects fled the area immediately after the attack.

Police patrol teams responded swiftly to the scene, rescuing the injured and conveying them to the Lassia and St. Ignatius Health Centres for first aid and were later referred to the Wa Regional Hospital for further medical attention. At the scene, police recovered eight (8) spent BB cartridges to aid in the ongoing investigation.

A joint team comprising officials from the District Assembly, Police, Military, Immigration Service, and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has since visited the affected communities to assess the situation and engage with victims and community leaders. The Regional Police Command, together with the Wa West District Chief Executive, visited the victims at the Wa Regional Hospital on Monday, 20th October, 2025. The attending medical officer confirmed that all the victims are responding positively to treatment.

In the meantime, joint security patrols have been strengthened within Lassia Toulu and nearby communities to enhance public safety, while efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators.

The Command wishes to assure the general public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure peace and security in the area. Residents are encouraged to remain calm and continue supporting the Police with credible information to assist the ongoing investigations.
