Prices of Cement have dropped significantly in Wa, Upper West Region as Cedi Keeps Appreciating against the Dollar.

The development has brought some level of happiness amongst individuals in the Building Industry and individuals planning to own homes before Marriage.

Checks in some shops revealed that a 32.5R 50kg Bag of Cement was trading at Ghc97 away from Ghc99 in the Beginning of October, Down by Ghc2 which is $0.185.

A 25KG Bag of Cement was also Trading at Ghc80 Down from Ghc90, A Difference of Gh¢10.

There are hopes that the Prices could sink down to Ghc80 by End of November should the Cedi Stabilizes at Ghc10.7 according Bank of Ghana’s Rates as at Friday, 24th October 2025.

Price of Roofing Wood has also been Pegged at Ghc70 in Sawla in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, despite very high Price of Ghc140 in most parts of Wa. Speaking to a Seller by name Mohammed Amega in Sawla, he affirmed that there was the need to reduce prices to Ghc70 due to the stability of international currency, Dollar and drop in prices of Food items.

He stated that the market was good indicating he had a truck that could carry wood from Sawla to any part of Wa for Customers.
