In a keynote address at the Ghana Digital Innovation Week (Upper West Region Edition) organized by Noni Hub held at the Wa Regional Library on Monday, 27th October 2025, the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq, emphasized the importance of digital innovation in driving economic and social development in Ghana.
Themed “Catalysing for Change – Emerging Technologies at the Forefront of Innovation and Digital Transformation,” the event focused on the transformative power of technology in shaping the future of the nation. Hon. Puozuing highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering the youth through initiatives such as the Noni Hub Digital Ghana Agenda, Ghana CARES Programme, and the YouStart Initiative.
Acknowledging the critical role of young innovators and entrepreneurs in the digital space, the Regional Minister commended their efforts in developing solutions to local challenges in various sectors, including agriculture, education, health, and commerce. He emphasized the need for investment in building innovation hubs, supporting startups, and collaborating with development organizations to promote digital literacy and inclusion.
However, Hon. Puozuing raised concerns about the rising trend of substance abuse among young people in the region. He announced the establishment of a Task Force on Substance Abuse to address this pressing issue, calling for a collective effort from all stakeholders to protect the future of the youth.
The Regional Minister urged participants, especially the youth, to embrace technology as a tool for empowerment and transformation. He called for responsible citizenship, rejecting substance abuse and advocating for productive, technology-driven pathways to success.
In conclusion, Hon. Puozuing reaffirmed the Upper West Region’s readiness to lead in the digital revolution, emphasizing the region’s potential to innovate and inspire progress.
The Ghana Digital Innovation Week hosted by Noni Hub in the Upper West Region showcased the government’s commitment to harnessing the power of technology for national development, with a call to action for all citizens to embrace digital innovation for a prosperous Ghana.
