the Wa Metropolis led by Alhaji Nurah Issa Danwana held it’s second Ordinary Meeting of the 6th Wa Metropolitan Assembly on 28th if October 2025. Present were several Assembly Members, President Member and staff of the Assembly to Deliberate on some success stories of the Assembly.
A SUMMARY OF MY SESSIONAL ADDRESS AT THE SECOND ORDINARY MEETING OF THE 6TH WA METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY HELD ON TUESDAY, THE 28TH OF OCTOBER, 2025 AT THE ASSEMBLY’S CONFERENCE HALL.

Key Achievements:
- Revenue Mobilization: The Assembly exceeded its revenue target.
- Infrastructure Development:The Assembly has undertaken various infrastructure projects, including road construction, streetlight installation, school buildings, Renovations, Boreholes and many more.
- Security:The security situation in the municipality remains generally calm, with the Assembly working closely with security agencies to maintain law and order.
- Health:The Assembly has implemented various health initiatives, including immunization programs, health education, and disease surveillance.The construction of CHPS Compounds, Renovations, Provision of equipment and other logistics
- Education:The Assembly has supported education initiatives, including the Girls-in-ICT program, which saw the Wa Municipality emerge with the overall best student in ICT in the region.
Challenges:
- Sanitation:The Assembly faces challenges in enforcing sanitation bye-laws, leading to recurring unhygienic practices and Inadequate containers.
- Security: Despite the generally calm situation, there have been incidents of crime, including youth engaged in drug abuse.
Future Plans:
- 24-Hour Economy Model Market:* The Assembly is working on implementing a 24-hour economy model market project to stimulate economic activity and create employment opportunities.
- Streetlight Rehabilitation: The Assembly plans to extend the streetlight rehabilitation project to all communities within the municipality.
- Sanitation:The Assembly aims to improve sanitation practices and enforce bye-laws to maintain a clean environment.
- Decongestion of the central business district
- Opening up of new roads
- Construction of the Wa bypass road
- Expanding market infrastructure
- Providing portable water
