The Sod Cutting Ceremony planned to be executed at Guli In order to commence the construction of a Road from Wa through Tumu to Navrongo has been suspended indefinitely pending a New Date.

The President of Ghana, HE John Dramani Mahama was expected to be at Wa in the Early hours of 5th November 2025 to cut sod for Construction of the Wa-Tumu-Navrongo Road Project expected to span up to 2 Years before it’s completed according to the Wa Metropolitan DRIP Coordinator, Mr. Naeem Fabio in an Interview with Upper West Media Team at Guli.

A Reason for the Suspension of Sod Cutting Ceremony wasn’t disclosed however the president was expected to cut sod for two projects in a Day, one in Savannah Region and another one Upper West Region.

The Savannah Project is about the Wa -Sawla-Wechi Road Project and the sod cutting was salted for 5th November 2025 at Sawla in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of Savannah Region.

Distance from Wa to Navrongo is about 250km. 111km from Tumu to Navrongo and 139km from Wa to Tumu.
