On the 20th of October 2025, the District Chief Executive of Wa East, Hon. Adamu Sayibu Spoke extensively on Tizine Yiri Yela Program on Info Radio, outlining Steps he has taken since he assumed office to address pressing issues in the Wa East District.

Below are some of the Issues and steps being taken to address them.

  1. Government Bungalows aren’t in good shape, the District Assembly isn’t left out, no running water, the offices aren’t in good shape, no desks, accommodation for DCE isn’t good.

2.Moving out of administration to community, we have water problems, bad roads, No Electricity in some communities, No Mobile Network.

3.We’re planning to bride the furniture gaps In Schools, to provide 1000 desks by December, 500 for JHS and 500 for Primary Schools.

4.I have met with health director on several occasions and they discussed several issues with me. One issue is that 10 Communities are tired of waiting for Government to provide them with health facilities so they have started contributions to build those health facilities by themselves. We will help them. In 2025 we will build 2 heath facilities and 4 in 2026.

5.Chasia and Bulle communities will get CHPS Compound deposit beginning the process.

  1. We have only one contractor working on electricity projects in Wa East District. He was given a contract to work in Gbantala, Guonuo, Chassia, Kakanipuo, Nyaariri Area. Kpalinye was captured in the documents but Nyaariri is part. He has succeeded in Gbantala, kpalinye and Guonuo, Nyaayiri is yet to be powered because it needs a separate transformer..

  2. I’m yet to know the contractor working on the dupari electricity project, I have followed up to the ministry, I’m still working to repackage and reward the dupari electricity project, I can’t speak into details about dupari on air.
  3. We have gotten materials to continue with electricity extension and by two weeks those materials will be in Wa East District. We’ll depend on the legacy fund to complete dupari electricity project.
  4. With regards to Duu, we’ve captured the Duu Road Under the Roads project and a list gas been submitted to the Ministry of Roads through the Upper West Regional Minister. We have also compiled a list of Communities without electricity and submitted it to the Minister in charge of Energy.
  5. We’ve used part of the Assembly’s funds to work on the DCE’s Bungalow, Assembly, we’ll build two chips compounds, a school in Manwe and a KG Block in Yaru
  6. In terms of revenue mobilization, We East Fell at the Buttom, Achieved 38%. Our Revenue Officers are old and Weak.

12.Wa East District has no Functional Revenue Task Force, we need to Revive it

  1. Bulenga-Kundugu Road has become a Trunk Road to North East and Upper East
  2. We’ve advertised for Recruitment of Revenue Collectors
  3. Assembly Members and unit committee members siphoning Assembly revenue, alleging to using them for community projects.
  4. District Assembly Revenue Shouldn’t stay with an Assembly Member for More than 24 Hours, we have a portion of it for Area Council
  5. District Assembly Revenue is centered around taxing Cattle Owners which isn’t the only source of revenue
  6. Residents of Wa East will happily come to Wa with food items and pay revenue to Wa Assembly Revenue Staff yet refuse to pay to Wa East Revenue Officers.
  7. People putting up large scale farms in Wa East Without Permit, in case of fire outbreak they’ll need our fire service, police
  8. We’re going to register all large scale farms, fuel stations in Wa East
  9. Drinking spots, shops do not pay taxes in Wa East, were to start going into shops, spots for revenue.
  10. We’ll urge licensed small scale Mining companies to come and register with the Assembly and pay an annual rate to the Assembly
  11. By 2026 we shall begin full force revenue collection in Wa East , all structures are in place
