The Bahass Foundation has revealed a in alarming rate of drug Abuse in Upper West Region indicating that 90% of mentally deranged persons under their care are drug addicts.

Mr. Yussif Baba, the Overseer of Bahass Foundation was alarmed by the spate at which drug abuse was in the rise in the Upper West Region calling for stakeholders including the Taskforce on Drug Abuse to Intervene.

“We are going through the list we have in our mental home I’m currently with a Senior Nurse, Vitalis Dapaah, so looking through our records, Walahi, 90% of the people here are as a result of Substance Abuse.

We intended toake a mental home but it’s now Substance Abuse home. It’s a rehab.

The rehab patients are different, harsh, Stakeholders should help us reduce the drug abuse..”.

He Urged the Taskforce on Drug Abuse Inaugurated by Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing to work assiduously in Fighting Drug Abuse in the Upper West Region.
