Lawra, December 5, 2025 – In a vibrant display of community spirit, the Municipal Chief Executive (M.C.E.), Hon. Cecilia Soyelleh , spearheaded a significant clean-up exercise in Lawra to commemorate National Sanitation Day. The event, held in the heart of Lawra town, drew participation from various esteemed leaders, including the Director of Lawra Municipal Assembly, the Lawra Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S.), and the Lawra Municipal Director of Agriculture, among other department heads.

The clean-up initiative was further supported by the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his executive team, the vibrant Municipal Commander of the Ghana Police Service and his team, the Municipal Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service and his team, the Municipal Commander of the Narcotics Control Commission and his team, the Municipal Officer in charge of Sanitation, as well as representatives from Zoomlion and dedicated community members who passionately joined in the effort to beautify their town.
Under the leadership of Hon. M.C.E. Nuratu, the team diligently focused their efforts on cleaning the Lawra Market and its surroundings, demonstrating a profound commitment to environmental stewardship. The exercise extended beyond the market, with participants also addressing cleanliness in other critical areas of Lawra town, culminating their efforts around the Lawra Municipal Assembly.
In addition to the physical clean-up, Hon. Nuratu took the opportunity to engage with residents on the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Emphasizing the belief that “cleanliness is next to Godliness,” she urged community members to take personal responsibility for their surroundings to foster a healthier living environment.
