The Wa High Court Presided Over by Lordship Osei Wusu Antwi has granted Bail to a Second Accused Murder Suspect Abdul Halim Yahaya Also Known as Adaalee on Tuesday, 16th December 2025 in a Case involving The Republic Vs Anaatakang and Abdul Halim Yahaya.
This was after his Lawyer, Mr. Bewel Appealed to the High Court on Grounds of Ill Health and Long Detention of the accused.
Lawyer Bewel Indicated that the Suspect needed medical attention regularly to stay Alive and stand trial. He also indicated that the suspect was unfairly detained for a long period without trial, He Appealed to the court to consider the reasons and grant his client bail.
The Republic Opposed the bail conditions proposed by lawyer of the second Accused person. The Republic indicated that the suspect tampered with evidence including changing the colors of his private vehicle, a Kia Sorento under investigation twice.
The statement was objected by Abdul Halim Yahaya’s Lawyer, His lawyer indicated that the vehicle was handed over to the suspect on the order of the court.
The Republic also resisted the bail application vehemently stating the Suspect doesn’t abide to Bail conditions with some reports from the Ghana Prisons Service to support the statement.
However the Wa High Court Judge His Lordship Osei Wusu Antwi After a long break returned to the Chamber after reading through a long Report, granted Abdul Halim Yahaya a Bail with conditions including:
- Ghc 500,000
- Two Sureties
- Report to the Police Twice Weekly
- Landed Property
- Ghana Card
The Case has Been Adjourned Till Thursday, 18th – December – 2025 for Case Management Conference (CMC).
Background
Alhaji Mutala was found dead on Thursday morning 11th April 2024 with his throat cut, lying in a pool of blood in his room at Suuriyiri.
Family members of fifty-five-year-old coordinator of the Wa Central Customary Lands Secretariat, Alhaji Mtala Mahama, have called on the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, to swiftly work to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.
According to the spokesperson of the family, Seidu Tampuori Iddrisu, apart from the handwritten note suspected to have been written by the murderer and handed over to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), coupled with other relevant information given out, they believe that the police are well-equipped to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
