The Parliament of Ghana has today Friday, 19th December 2025 Changed the Names of Three Traditional Universities by taking off some Texts from their titles by Amendment.

With regards to SDD-UBIDS in Wa, The planned move was by the government to streamline its identity, dropping the “SDD” prefix but keeping the core UBIDS name, as indicated by the Education Minister in May 2025 to align with legislative changes, making it just UBIDS.

The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) has been changed to
University of Business & Integrated Development Studies, Wa.(UBIDS)

CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences(CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo has also been changed to
University of Technology & Applied Sciences(UTAS).

Akenten Appiah Menkah University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has been Changed to University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development.

This is part of Promise Made by the current Government Led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during their Campaign ahead of the 2024 General Elections to make changes to names of these universities named after some personalities by the Akufo-Addo Led Administration.
