A night of music and entertainment turned violent in the early hours of Friday, December 26, 2025, when a disturbance broke out at the DJ Amass Dance Concert in Wellembelle, in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region, leaving two men with stab wounds.
The incident occurred at about 1:40 a.m. when a confrontation between two men at the crowded concert escalated into a physical fight. According to police sources, during the altercation, one of the men allegedly pulled out a sharp object and stabbed another individual in the left thigh.
Moments after the initial stabbing, friends of the injured man reportedly retaliated, attacking the suspect and stabbing him in the abdomen. The second victim sustained a deep abdominal wound, prompting immediate concern among patrons at the event.
Police officers who were on duty in the area swiftly intervened to prevent further violence and restore calm. Both individuals involved in the stabbing were arrested and identified as Mujeeb Mumuni, aged 18, and Bukuri Taulep, aged 25. Police confirmed that the two suspects are also victims of the incident.
The injured men were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention. Bukuri Taulep, who suffered the more severe injury, was later referred to the Wa Regional Hospital for further treatment, while Mujeeb Mumuni is receiving care locally.
The Ghana Police Service has launched a full investigation into the incident and is currently gathering intelligence to identify and arrest any accomplices who may have been involved in the violence. As part of the investigation, organizers of the DJ Amass Dance Concert will be invited to assist police with relevant information regarding security arrangements and events leading up to the disturbance.
Police have assured residents that the situation in Wallembelle is now calm and under control.
They have also urged the public, especially event organizers and patrons, to cooperate with security agencies and avoid acts that could lead to violence during these festivities.
