The Assembly member for Owlo, Honorable Zuzie Amatus, has expressed concern over ongoing challenges facing the community, highlighting the need for continued government support despite notable successes achieved through communal efforts.

In an interview with Info Radio, Mr. Ametus acknowledged that the community has benefited from initiatives such as the provision of boreholes, which was supported by the former NPP Upper West Regional Chairman, Mr. S.B Kangberee. He commended the community’s collective efforts in ensuring access to potable water, a development that has alleviated previous water shortages.

However, the Assemblyman also pointed out that certain critical issues remain unresolved. He emphasized that the local community school, which was in a dilapidated condition, has since been renovated with the assistance of stakeholders, significantly improving the learning environment.

Despite these improvements, residents continue to face hardships. Gaaba Nestor, a resident of Owlo, lamented the lack of electricity in certain areas on the community, describing it as a major obstacle to daily life and effective study for students. “The absence of power in some homes makes life difficult, and students are unable to study properly,” Nestor stated.

Mr. Ametus called on government authorities to extend further support to address these pressing issues, ensuring that Owlo can progress towards sustainable development and improved living standards for all residents.

Owlo is farming community located in the Daffiama/Bussie/Issa District of the Upper West Region of Ghana.
