FUNSI, UPPER WEST REGION – In a historic move that blends traditional heritage with modern stardom, the elders and kingsmen of the Funsi Traditional Area have announced the enskinment of international music sensation Wiyaala as the Paramount Queen Mother of the Funsi Paramountcy.
Affectionately known as the “Lioness of Africa,” Wiyaala will be officially introduced and enskinned during a series of traditional rites and public celebrations. According to official communications, the enstoolment ceremony is set for January 15, 2026, followed by a grand public festival on January 17, 2026.
To celebrate this new era of leadership, the newly crowned Queen Mother has initiated the first-ever Pulung Festival. This cultural extravaganza is designed to unite the community and showcase the rich heritage of the Funsi Traditional Area.

The festival promises to be a landmark event in the Upper West Region, featuring an eclectic mix of local talent and international acts. Wiyaala herself will headline the concert, performing alongside a diverse bill of artists: Main Acts Wiyaala, Samson B and Gally, other Supporting Acts Saadia, Apaco, IronBwoy, F-Bwoy, B-Prince.
Bands & Groups to showcase, The Yagayagas (from Slovenia), Chinchiga Band, Boys and Girls Club, Savage Dancers, Gorchiga Dance Troup, Kyansia Dance Troup and Comedy from The Hilarious D. KK.
The appointment of Wiyaala—a globally recognized advocate for women’s rights and African culture—is seen as a strategic move by the Funsi elders to bridge the gap between tradition and the global stage, promising a “new era” for the Paramountcy.
