Board members and senior management of the Ghana Airport Company visited, interacted with staff at the Wa Airport in the Upper West Region on Thursday 8th January 2026.

The team walked through the runway to ascertain the true end of the runway for expansion.

They were received and welcomed by the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon Charles Lwanga Puozuing and the chief Executive of the Wa Metropolitan Assembly, Hon Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana.

The delegation of the Ghana Airport Company was led by the Board chairman Hon James Agalga Esq.

The aim of their visit included the following.

1.Upgrading the walkway of the airport.
2.Upgrading of the VIP lounge.
3.Addition of more flights
4.Expansion of the airport.
5.encroachment of the airport.

The team later in the day paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council His royal eminence Naa Fusieni Pelpuo VII, where they exchanged pleasantries and the delivered a message from His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in forfillment reasons of their visit to Wa.

The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council His royal eminence Naa Fusieni Pelpuo VII put before the team some challenges affecting the Wa airport and which ought to be addressed and included among the challenges are upgrading of the VIP lounge and additional airlines.

The Overlord also gave a message to be delivered to HE John Dramani Mahama president of the Republic through the their leader Hon James Agalga that the Upper West Regional Minister Hon Charles Lwanga Puozuing and the Wa Metropolitan chief Executive Hon Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana are one of the best things ever happened to Wa.

The Overlord gave all the members and senior management each a smock.
