The Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq has bemoaned the bad state of some government owned bungalows in the regional capital, stressing that occupants of the properties subject them to abject conditions.
The Minister at a press soiree organized on January 15, 2026 by the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council, made the statement while responding to a question on the 19-year old abandoned government affordable housing project at Sombo, a suburb of Wa.
Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing noted that, the government is currently working on its housing policy and it would not be out of place for the project to be captured.
He however indicated that, based on the behavior of some tenants of government owned bungalows regarding their maintenance, if he were to advise the government, he would rather advise that funds for such a project should be invested in the New Regional Hospital.
The Minister urged the media to take interest and report by naming and shaming occupants on the poor usage of the facilities and was quick to add that, the RCC has taken measures to ensure that the facilities are put into judicious use and will be meeting beneficiaries of the facilities in earnest.
He seized the opportunity and admonished users of public properties to treat public properties like their own and develop positive behavior towards the usage of such properties while refraining from poor maintenance culture.
