The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq , has assured the chief and people of Funsi, the capital of the Wa East District, that the government will construct one of its flagship 24-hour Economy market centres in Funsi.
Addressing the Chiefs and People of Funsi, on January 22, 2026 at Funsi, the Minister noted that, the ultra-modern market facility is expected to significantly boost local economic activities by attracting traders and customers from far and near.
He furthered that, the proposed market will be equipped with key social amenities, including a clinic, school, police station, an abattoir, and other supporting facilities, to enhance convenience and public health.
The market when constructed, will attract traders from the North East region and other adjoining communities in the Upper East region to the Funsi Market.
Hon. Puozuing gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to the Funsi Paramountcy as part of his ongoing tour of traditional areas in the Upper West Region.
The tour, he explained, is aimed at strengthening collaboration between government and traditional authorities while taking stock of development needs across the region.
As part of the exercise, the Regional Minister also paid courtesy calls on the Bulenga, Manwe, and Kundugu traditional areas.
