An astute politician and public servant from Wa Sombo in the Upper West Region, Mr. Nyeyelanye Abdul Aziz has declared his intention to contest the Parliamentary delegate elections after the Demise of Ayawasu East Member of Parliament Mahama Naser Toure, the long-serving National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, passed away on January 4, 2026, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital following a short illness. The 60-year-old fourth-term MP was buried in Accra according to Islamic traditions.
So far 6 people have picked forms to contest. He is contesting the NDC primary ahead of the February 7, 2026, by-election.
Statement
Ayawaso East needs a young man with solid experience and deep understanding of parliamentary proceedings. As a former National Service personnel at Parliament House, I have first-hand knowledge and the experience to build on what I learned.
