Residents of Dapuoha, a farming community in the Wa municipality of the Upper West Region have voiced concerns over what they describe as persistent neglect by political leaders, citing inadequate infrastructure and unfulfilled campaign promises as major impediments to community development.
Speaking to Info Radio, Mr. Abrahim Zentiere, a prominent community member, lamented that politicians often engage actively with the community during election campaigns but fail to follow through on their commitments once in office. He appealed to leaders to honor their promises, especially those aimed at improving residents’ livelihoods.
A significant issue raised was the deplorable condition of the roads connecting Dapuoha to Wa. As a predominantly farming community renowned for tomato production, residents say the poor road network, particularly during the rainy season , hinders the transportation of produce to markets. The situation to to residents has led to substantial losses and diminished incomes for local farmers.
Women in Dapuoha also expressed frustrations over high fertilizer costs, limited access to water for farming activities, and inadequate social amenities. They highlighted shortages of classroom furniture, which force children to learn while sitting on the floor, and pointed out the lack of a healthcare facility to serve pregnant women and other residents.
The community has called on the government and relevant authorities to prioritize these issues and implement sustainable solutions. They emphasized that addressing these challenges is essential for improving living conditions and fostering economic growth within Dapuoha.
