The Wa Metropolis and surrounding areas have experienced excessive power interruptions Today, 9th February 2026.

The power interruption started at about 2:00pm when electricity went off.

At about 6pm power was restored however fluctuations continued affecting several electronic gadgets in households.

Some individuals have expressed concerns urging the Upper West Regional Manager of VRA Mr. Francis Yormesor to address the problem.

It can be recalled that in 2025, a Ghc1 levy on fuel was imposed on the Ghanaian Tax payer to remedy power crisis in the country as proposed by the Energy Minister, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor. The Energy Minister indicated that the levy was to generate about 5-6 billion Ghana Cedis, an amount that is not enough.
