Tragedy Strikes in Ga: Woman and Child Electrocuted During Rainstorm

A woman and her child lost their lives in Ga on Sunday, March 29, 2026, after being electrocuted during a heavy rainstorm.

Speaking to Info Radio, the Assemblyman for the Ga electoral area, Hon. Kuusani Cornelius Gbang, explained that the victims, who hailed from Wechiau Tuole, had attended a funeral and were returning home when the incident occurred. According to him, the two were traveling in a tricycle, popularly known as a “motor king,” when they came into contact with a live electrical source amid the downpour.

The tricycle rider and his mother, who were also affected, survived the ordeal and are currently receiving treatment at the Wa Regional Hospital.

Hon. Cornelius Gbang appealed to drivers to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions. He urged motorists to suspend travel during heavy rainfall to avoid dangers associated with rainstorms and related accidents. He further noted that the storm had damaged electrical infrastructure, creating hazardous conditions in the area.

He also called on residents to remain vigilant, stressing that many electric poles erected around 1996 have weakened over time. He advised community members to promptly report damaged or leaning poles to the appropriate authorities for swift intervention to prevent further tragedies.
