Upper West Police Command Given Till 26th June to Respond to Writ of Summon

The Upper West Regional Police Command has been issued a writ of Summon by Sory@Law through a Complainant Yahaya Mohammed to respond to it’s Petition on or before 26th of June 2023.

This was after two Public Servants were Reportedly Assaulted by Police Intelligence Division on the 5th of February 2023.

According to Mr. Kamaldeen Ishmail and Mr. Yahaya Mohammed, Some Police Officers Assaulted them and Used Cutlasses on them before forcing them to sign a Police Statement they knew nothing about.

In a Press Briefing at the Upper West Regional GNAT Secretariat on 19th June 2023, Mr. Kamaldeen Ishmail Noted That the Issue is set to be heard in court.

The Commission is in receipt of a complaint from one Yahaya Mohammed in respect of the above subject matter.
I have instructions from the Regional Director, to transmit a copy of complaint to you and to further request your written response/comments on same to reach the commission on or before 26th June 2023.

This request is in accordance with Regulation 3(1)(a) and (b) of the Commission on Human Rights and Addministrative Justice (Investigations Procedure)
Regulations 67, 2010 which provides:
“3(1) The Commission shal transmit a copy of the Complaint to and request a response from
(a) the person against whom the complaint is made, an
(b) the head of the body or organization of the Person against whom the complaint is made after receiving a complaint that is within the
mandate of the Commission.”
