Two artfully taken goals from the well knitted upper west team ended the dreams of Brong Ahafo region in Bolga in one of the finals of the schools Championship since it’s inception.

An impressive pre-tournament preparation saw Abdul Aziz Kandumah John and his gallant team racking in 15 goals in 7 games including 5 wins before the trip to Bolga.

A replica of their pre-season form saw Upper West jointly topping the group alongside Brong Ahafo region. A penalty heart break handed the Bono Boys bragging rights in the group stages.

A historic first ever win over Ashanti Region at the Inter Schools level in football highlighted the journey of Upper West en route to the final with Brong Ahafo waiting in the final.

Having led Wa Suntaa SC into a magic 19 Games Unbeaten run in the upper west region third tier, Kandumah John unleashed his tactical master stroke in the final match spiced with some possession based football.

Mesmeric passing and pressing game from the inspired Upper West Boys yielded dividends with an opening goal capable of deflating egos and self belief on the highest platform.

Sunkari Razak silenced the teaming fans in Bolga with an architecturally crafted finish to put Upper West 1-0 before Mohammed Salifu doubled the lead to end the contest with time wallowing on the score board.

With a commanding lead and confidence, Upper West then tormented their visitors with football from the north led by energy, confidence and pressing.

Tried as the Bono Boys, Upper West proved too hot to handle in a game that will go down as one of the most keenly contested grand finales.

The youngest of the then 10 regions proved to be the strongest in the land of the dogs as Brong Ahafo region were punctuated and tamed in the scorching sun in Bolga.
