Upper West Regional Public Relations officer for Ghana Education Service, Mr. Justine Kpan

There has been series of concerns about how Public relations in the Upper West Regional Division of Ghana Education Service is handled, per records, the Ghana Education Service has the Largest number of employees in the Country and serves a key role in National Development through shaping of children in the Country.

Upper West Region as well has over 500 Basic Schools within 11 Districts in the Region. The Wa West Alone has over 31,000 school Children enrolled in Schools within the Basic Level, that is from KG to JHS 3.

Students sit for BECE yearly and it’s expected of Public Relations Offices of Ghana Education Service to release results annually to the public, this can be used by coorporate Social organizations to solicit for Support in order to improve schools in need of either teachers and other learning resources.

In November 2022, the District Public Relations Officer of Wa West, Mr. Cladeus Kuuyuor had disclosed that 31,101 Students are currently enrolled in Public Schools within the District, he added that the District has huge furniture Deficit compelling students to study on bare floor in some Schools within Communities such Wichao Bao and Kuukyile Yiri.

Mr. Cladeus Kuuyuor after revealing the Developments was reportedly threatened afterwards by the Regional Public Relations Office, headed by Mr. Justin Kpan and other Authorities. Public Relations Officers in GES have been ‘chained’ by higher authorities including the Regional Public Relations Office of GES and barred from Speaking to the Media.

The Regional Public Relations Officer has been accused of holding on to relevant information and Making public basic schools Unpopular by concealing their annual BECE Results.
