
President Akufo-Addo told the nation his government has been able to build several factories under the government’s flagship programme, One District One Factory (1D1F).
The 58 companies, some of them very familiar names, are into various enterprises from manufacturing, recycling, agro and wood processing.
The list also provides the location of the factories, the size and nature of employment.
President Akufo-Addo told a media encounter on Friday, December 13 at the Jubilee House, that the programme to industrialise the country was taking shape and that apart from the 58 which were already in operation, 26 others were at various stages of completion and would be inaugurated by the first half of 2020.
The 1D1F programme is aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring sustainable supply of food at cheaper cost while creating jobs for the youth.
Only one factory was listed in the Name of Upper West Region and called Savannah Food Empire Limited, engaged in Processing of Soya beans into cake and refined soy oil for
domestic and industrial purposes, According to the list, it’s located in Wa Central.
This means the remaining 10 Municipalities and Districts in Upper West Region have no Factories.
Meanwhile checks in Wa has revealed there is an ongoing Factory Project initiated by the Government at Wa-Nakore.
