Chiefs and Elders of Wa West

Mr Yussif Abdullah, the Assembly Member for Beleofili Electoral Area in the Wa West District, has expressed concern over the lack of a single health facility in his electoral area.

The Assembly Member told Info Radio that his electoral area of 10 communities lacks a single CHPS compound where residents can seek healthcare services.

He could not fathom why his electoral area contributes revenue to the Assembly’s IGF from its market centres and yet has no single health facility.

He appealed to the District Assembly to as a matter of importance construct a health facility in the area to bring healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people.

He said the lack of health facilities in the area has posed serious health risks to the people.

He cited an instance where a man was shot at night on a motorbike transporting his wife in labour to Wechiau for skilled delivery.

He said the instance has put fear in many people and they refuse to seek medical attention at night even in critical situations for fear of being attacked.

He recalled a CHPS compound project for the area was once captured in the Assembly’s budget but has since not come to fruition, and thus reminded the District Assembly and Health Directorate to expedite action in getting the facility established.
