In a bid to alleviate the challenges faced by final-year students in Junior High Schools (JHS), the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa East, Hon Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has sponsored a mock examination for students in his constituency.
This initiative seeks to enhance students’ preparedness for the upcoming national examinations and provide them with valuable academic support. According to a timetable released, the mock examination will commence next week July 10, 2023, at the various schools.
The sponsored mock examination, which will be conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), will attract participation from hundreds of final-year JHS students across various schools in the Wa East constituency. The examination, which is expected to be held at the schools covers core subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Science, and Social Studies, not excluding elective subjects such as Religious Moral Studies, ICT, Ghanaian Language and Culture etc.
Hon Dr Jasaw in a statement emphasized the importance of adequate preparation for final-year students, “The future of our nation lies in the hands of these young students. We must provide them with every possible opportunity to succeed,” said Hon Jasaw. “By organizing this sponsored mock examination, we aim to assess their knowledge, boost their confidence, and identify areas where additional support may be needed.”
The MP further revealed that the examination was designed to replicate the format of the upcoming national Basic Education Certificate Examination, enabling students to become familiar with the test format and better manage exam-related stress. In addition to the mock examination itself, the students will also be provided with informative study materials and resources to aid their preparation.
The initiative which is four years old has garnered widespread appreciation from both students and parents in the Wa East constituency. This initiative coupled with effective monitoring and supervision according to the lawmaker has resulted in the Wa East District occupying First Position in the region as far as BECE Performance is concerned. Many have commended Hon Jasaw for his commitment to quality education.
