The Regional Internal Elections of the New Patriotic party has been a game changer for most constituencies in the Region.
The Wa Central Constituency, Sissala East Constituency, Lambussie Constituency, the Sissala West Constituency, the Dafiama-Busie-Issa Constituency, the Wa East Constituency, Wa West Constituency, Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency and Jirapa Constituency have all changed their Chairmen except for Nandom which AHS retained its executives after a unanimous decision.
One of the longest serving chairman in Upper West, Chairman Ali Kamara of Wa Central has been defeated in a fiercely contested Wa Central Constituency Election, he polled 341 Votes whilst the Newly elected Chairman, Mr. Osuman Hamid polled 558, Issahaku Sidik Polled 131 votes with 17 rejected Ballots.
Before the leader of the Grassroot team together with 7 of his followers won the elections, this was what he said.
“Is it the responsibility of a chairman to distribute contracts? Certainly not, a chairman’s responsibility is to ensure you win the elections for your party, God is for Victory but you should try your best to ensure the party wins, if I am Chairman, I won’t impose a parliamentary candidate on the party, I will only appeal with delegates and also ensure its mutual, if I’m victorious, I’ll ensure that I support anyone the party votes as parliamentary candidate”.
